The confidential avatara of the Lord as confirmed in Srimad Bhagvatam 11.5.32 is further discussed herein.
He is known as Gauranga, The golden incarnation of Lord Krishna Himself, also called Shri Krishna Chaitanya Mahaprabhu.
caitanyaya namo namah
“I offer my respectful obeisances unto Lord Sri Krishna, the all-pervading Personality of Godhead, who is understood by the study of Vedanta philosophy. He is the master of all transcendental potencies, and He appears as Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu.” (Atharva Veda, Text 7)
The following was spoken by Srila Rupa Goswami, one of the renowned saints in the Gaudiya Vaishnava lineage, when he met Lord Chaitanya:
nāmne gaura-tviṣe namaḥ
“O most munificent incarnation! You are Kṛṣṇa Himself appearing as Śrī Kṛṣṇa Caitanya Mahāprabhu. You have assumed the golden color of Śrīmatī Rādhārāṇī, and You are widely distributing pure love of Kṛṣṇa. We offer our respectful obeisances unto You.” (CC Madhya 19/53)
Lord Chaitanya, although Krishna Himself appeared as Krishna’s devotee to teach us all by His exemplary act, the science of rendering pure devotional service unto The Supreme Personality of Godhead, Krishna, which Krishna concluded in His original form 5000 years ago, in the final instructions of Bhagavad Gita:
mām ekaṁ śaraṇaṁ vraja
ahaṁ tvāṁ sarva-pāpebhyo
mokṣayiṣyāmi mā śucaḥ
“Abandon all varieties of religion and just surrender unto Me. I shall deliver you from all sinful reactions. Do not fear.” (BG 18.66)
Lord Krishna had descended 5000 years ago for two reasons. One being, to annihilate the miscreants or atheistic class of men who caused violence to His devotees. This He accomplished by killing them very easily in many numbers. Unfortunately, in the age of kaliyuga, everyone is already killing themself from within by adopting materialistic concept of life. Therefore taking compassion on the conditioned souls, appeared the most munificent incarnation of the Lord to make available the love of Godhead to all, indiscriminately.
Many question that the atrocities in this age have far increased, then where is God now? The answer to them is Nama-avatara.
hare kṛṣṇa hare kṛṣṇa kṛṣṇa kṛṣṇa hare hare
hare rāma hare rāma rāma rāma hare hare
iti ṣoḍaśakaṁ nāmnāṁ kali-kalmaṣa-nāśanam
nātaḥ parataropāyaḥ sarva-vedeṣu dṛśyate
“The sixteen words-Hare Krishna, Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna, Hare Hare/ Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare-are especially meant for counteracting the contaminations of Kali. To save oneself from the contamination of Kali, there is no alternative in all the Vedas except the chanting of these sixteen words.” (Kali-santarana Upanishad (5-6))
In other words Lord Krishna and His energies are fully present in His names and simply by its chanting one can attain all perfection in this lifetime without performing other complex processes and methods enjoined in the Vedas to attain perfection.
Lord Chaitanya thus descended to spread this chanting of the holy names. Travelling from one village to the other and then to different states, He would simply sing the Holy names while absorbed ecstatically with His associates, who also would feel the same while assisting Him by playing various instruments and dancing along. The common mass including criticizers would be overwhelmed by this scene and would be pulled to the Sankirtan, becoming forgetful of all their miseries.
In this way the Sankirtan (congregation chanting) movement spread out like a wild fire and engulfed the mass under its influence, by indiscriminately giving their participants pure love of Godhead, the topmost goal of one’s existence, infinitely superior to liberation.
Never in history has ever such a magnanimous process been inaugurated. Unleashing His compassion fully in the form of the chanting process Lord Krishna Chaitanya proved that bhakti or love for God is the preferred medicine and topmost goal for this age, by defeating and convincing even the Vedantists by shastric knowledge, by logic and His love, being Krishna Himself, the source of all Vedic knowledge.
Therefore, the present era citizens are the most fortunate souls having taken birth 45 years from the re-initiation of The Sankirtan movement, now having crossed the Indian boundaries. No intelligent person would ever miss such an opportunity which guarantees its sincere practitioner’s purification from all inauspiciousness and re-establishment of their lost connection with Krishna, qualifying them to see Krishna personally face to face before leaving their present body in bliss, to wake up in the spiritual world with their original eternal form regained.
